Genius Hour!

It's Time!! AP Exam is behind us...

...So, let the Genius Hour begin :)

Grow, Succeed, Fail, Learn, Research, Discover, Create, Write, Reflect!

Ok - So here is how it works....in the next few weeks, you are going to learn and/or create something. Anything you want to learn about (with a connection to life science) and learn it. You will then show what you learned to all of us in one month's time. Use your time well (as in BE HERE & work during our block time) and I would expect little to be necessary outside of class. Don't use it well, and well, you know - after all, you are only a little over a month away from being set on the world.

The Steps:

• Brainstorm Time: These next few days are for you explore and research in what some friends of mine termed "the blank white page."
  • What are some interesting topics you enjoy? What questions have you always wanted to answer?
  • YOU WILL FIND A DOCUMENT IN YOUR SHARED FOLDER TITLED "GENIUS HOUR KICK-OFF" USE THIS TO DOCUMENT THIS EARLY BRAINSTORMING.
  • By Friday (at the latest) - You will have identified your topic & question! See the form below? Fill it in BY Friday:

Question Form:

• Go Time: Time to start the learning!
  • Once you've identified the question you want to answer, it's time to start finding it out. RESEARCH THE SNOT OUT OF IT. What is known already? How can you contribute to new learning/understanding?
  • Experimentation is highly recommended, but remember - I don't have much left to spend so budget (sadly) does need to be considered.
  • This is the open time. The independent time. The time for you to immerse yourself in this & learn something crazy interesting TO YOU.
  • All class time from here on out is devoted to this. Use it. If you don't - you'll be spending an awful lot of time doing it outside of class.
  • REFLECT on your learning.
    • Final Reflection Break-Down
  • Pull together some form of visual presentation (google slides, a video, an interactive trek...) on your learning.
