In Metalsmithing and Jewelry students learn how to manipulate metal by work hardening, forming, forging and bending, Students start out with wire, learning the basic principles of metal, how it behaves and about basic hand tools and then go on to using sheet and creating rivets etc..
[ A fibula is one of the most ancient forms of jewelry. It is a one piece pin / broach that can be used to hold things as heavy as a cloak if the metal is thick enough. ]
