The question above is one of the things students learn the answer to in Digital Photography class... the difference between snap shots and artistic photos. Both photos above had the same settings, same lighting, same, time/day and the same subject. All that changed was the way Mrs. McCracken *approached* the subject. At Farmington High School, (FHS), in Farmington NH we aim toward bettering our art as well as our technical abilities with professional grade DSLR cameras.

Below are some examples of photos students took in Shannon McCracken's class. Many students really enjoyed macro photography, (close up photos with out of focus backgrounds etc.), as shown below.
These images were not edited, they are shown as they were photographed. The one on the left was controlled with shutter speed and the one on the right used a projector.
Students learn about the MANUAL controls of our cameras... all those buttons and switches most people will never touch. With these settings, such as: ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, Exposure Compensation, White Balance etc..
