4th grade math is, at first, a mix of what was learned in 3rd grade along with new concepts to apply. This math practice will take place in September.

Usually by October, we are ready to start FLEX GROUPING. You may read about this on Mrs. Fowler's website: What is Flexible Grouping?

Here, we will move into new concepts but will continue to practice any of those skills still requiring mastery. The basic structure of our math class will be an introduction to the lesson, guided practice, independent/partnership practice, additional support as needed and time for partner games/activities that reinforce concepts.

It is critical to mathematical success that students become fluent and maintain that fluency in the facts, most specifically addition, subtraction, and this year: multiplication and division! Fact fluency in multiplication will be an area we give attention to!
