The Health Office strives to support the growth, development, and academic achievement of students by promoting their health and well being while maintaining a healthy and safe school environment. The school nurse works to identify and address the health and safety needs of students; build collaborative partnerships with staff, families, and providers; and provide quality health services that are responsive and sensitive to the changing health and safety needs of students.
The school nurse is able to perform the following functions for students as listed below:
The care of a sick child is a parental responsibility. If the child is ill, he/she is to be kept home. Children will not be allowed to stay inside during recess or stay out of physical education activities without a physician’s written request. If a child becomes ill in school, care will be provided until a parent or parent designee can be contacted to pick up the child. The parent should notify the school office if a child is going to be absent. Please notify the Health Office if the child has a communicable disease (i.e. chicken pox, strep throat, scarlet fever, conjunctivitis, head lice, etc.), has suffered an injury or has an illness that requires accommodation during the school day.
