Fr. Andrzej Sowa

Fr. Andrzej Sowa (Fr. Andrew) was born on Jan. 24, 1962 in Poland. He entered into training for the priesthood in 1982, in Poland. In 1990, Fr. Andrew was ordained to the priesthood, and, for the next five years, travelled across Poland giving Parish Retreats.

In 1995, Fr. Andrew came to Canada to preach Parish Retreats in Polish Catholic parishes. He realized that he liked Canada, and asked his Superiors for permission to stay in Canada. He was posted to Sturgis, Sk. in 1995, as an assistant pastor, so as to learn English.

In 1996, he became the assistant pastor of St. Casmir’s Parish in Toronto. In 1999, he returned to

Saskatchewan as a parish priest in Sturgis, Buchanan, Rama, Norquay, and Rockford. Also, for a short time, he also was the parish priest in Kamsack, and in St. Philip’s, Kamsack.

In 2005, Fr. Andrew was appointed Pastor of a huge parish (St. Maximilian Kolbe) in Mississauga,Ontario. Then, in 2011, he was moved to Edmonton, where he served as the Parish priest of the Holy Rosary Parish, for six years.

In August of 2017, he became the Parish priest at St. Henry’s Parish here in Melville.
