Individual Student Referral

An Individual Student Referral connects your team with SASED’s specialists to assess and support the needs of a specific student. This may include conducting observations, gathering input from team members, and providing coaching on effective strategies to address behavior, academic challenges, and overall student engagement. Our team provides hands-on coaching, modeling, and targeted interventions in areas like behavior management, academic instruction, and communication strategies. Additionally, we support the development and implementation of individualized plans (e.g., Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans) and assist with re-evaluations and updates. Our goal is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based strategies to support the student’s success in the classroom and beyond.

Individual Student Referral Services May Include:

• Assessing problem behavior through observations and team/student interviews

• Coaching and modeling of behavior management strategies

• Crisis management support for teams

• Coaching on evidence-based academic strategies for individual students

• Staff development on differentiation and modifications for individual students

• Initial Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and follow-up coaching

• Coaching on developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

• Re-evaluations of FBAs and BIP updates

• Vocational supports and transition planning

• BIP procedural integrity and fidelity implementation

• Communication strategies specific to the individual student

• Data collection support for academic and behavior tracking

• Transition supports (e.g., grade transitions, school changes, SASED to home district, out-of-district placements)

• Parent support and coaching around behavior strategies

• Instructional coaching specific to the student’s needs

• Case study evaluations

Classroom Support May Include:

• Behavioral support for Tier 1 Classroom Management

• Instructional strategies for supporting individual students in the classroom

• CHAMPS coaching and supporting implementation in classrooms

• Classroom implementation of district initiatives (e.g., Responsive Classroom)
