It's time to fill out the fafsa!

UPDATE: THE FAFSA IS NOW AVAILABLE!

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a tremendously important document for any Senior who plans to attend any college, university, or trade school program after high school. Seniors MUST fill out the FAFSA application as soon as possible. The FAFSA typically opens on October 1st each year, but is getting some updates and won't officially open until sometime in December. This application is used to determine financial aid eligibility, including free grant money and student loan options. The sooner the application is sent, the better the chances a student may receive aid. There is no application fee to fill out the FAFSA.

It is highly encouraged for each student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) to go to the website and create an FSA ID for each individual at least a week prior to filling out the application. This gives time for the IDs to be verified.

college application and scholarship information

Seniors who wish to apply for admission to colleges or to apply for scholarships need to begin that process now. Many colleges have early admissions deadlines of November 1st, others will be due around January 1st. Make sure to check with the college(s) to be sure.

Most schools have online applications for both admissions and for scholarships, so it is best to go to that school's website to find more information. Look for links that say "Admissions" or "Financial Aid".

Note: you can always do a Google search for scholarships, but these are typically national scholarships that are often more competitive in nature.
