The ACT stands for “American College Test”. It is a standardized test that determines a high school graduate's preparedness for college. It covers five areas: Math, English, Reading, Writing and Science. Most colleges will ask for a student's ACT scores when making decisions regarding admissions and scholarship opportunities.
Though the ACT is open to virtually any student 6th grade and up, most students begin taking the ACT during their high school years. Students can take the ACT an unlimited number of times in hopes of increasing their final scores.
At Sasakwa, we give the ACT to our Juniors as part of their state-mandated testing/graduation requirements. This test is always offered in the spring semester, usually in early April, and is provided at no cost to the student. This test is separate from the National Testing dates listed on the official ACT website.
If any Junior or Senior wishes to take the ACT test on any of the National Testing dates listed below, they may qualify for a fee waiver. To receive a fee waiver, the student needs to contact Mrs. Story. She can walk them through the registration and fee waiver process, as well as provide study materials.
PreACT:
This year, and every year moving forward, we will give the precursor to the ACT, the PreACT, to every 10th grade student. This will allow them to get familiar with the ACT format, have an idea of the score ranges they can expect to fall into for the ACT, and also gives students a study tool for prepping for the ACT their Junior year. This test is given at no cost to the student.
This year's PreACT test will be administered Wednesday, November 6, 2024, here at the school.
