BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Sarah Evans Zalewski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counselor Education and Family Therapy at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) and a private practice clinician specializing in working with children and adolescents. She completed a Ph.D. in counseling/counselor education at The University of the Cumberlands, an MS in counselor education specializing in school counseling from CCSU, and a postgraduate certificate in play therapy from the University of Wyoming. She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a certified school counselor in Connecticut and is credentialed as a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and Board Certified in Telemental Health (BCTMH). Dr. Evans Zalewski is also a Registered Play Therapist. She is active in many professional organizations, including the American Counseling Association (ACA), where she served as the Co-Chair of the Professional Standards Committee, the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) where she serves on the Ethics and Position Statements Committees, the Connecticut Counseling Association (CCA), where she was President from 2021-23, the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (ACAC) where she was the chair of the Awards Committee, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), and the Connecticut School Counselor Association (CSCA) where she served as Chair of the Professional Recognition Committee. Dr. Evans Zalewski has also served as a TeleMental Health Subject Matter Expert for the National Board for Certified Counselors and an industry expert for the Connecticut Health Information Exchange Regulations Advisory Subcommittee.
