Academic Resources
So let's start with the basics. What does your school counselor do to support you academically?
Review transcripts and maintain courses of study - so I make sure you get credit for all of your hard work!
Create and change schedules - I will always consider your input, and will help you find ways to resolve any issues you are having with specific teachers or with students in class. If you need a schedule change, have your advisor put in a request on your behalf!
Help students understand goal setting for bi-weekly zoning - how much can you get done in 2 weeks and still be on track for graduation?
Calculate your GPA - if you're trying for a certain GPA for college or the SEED Grant, I'll help you figure out if it's possible and what you need to do to make it happen!
Transcript and record requests - Yes, I am the go-to person for most of your academic records. See the "Forms" section below if you need to make requests.
Enter credits on transcripts - always make sure you put turn in your credit slips as soon a you get them! See below for the forms you need to track your community service and PE hours!
Individual counseling for academic concerns - part of my job is helping students figure out what is keeping them from being successful, with help from your advisor, we will figure out a plan to get you back on track!
Review Work Verification Forms with the Transition Coordinator - you must turn in work verification forms to get your work credit or to get a special shift to accommodate your job! See the Work Verification form below!
Assist with identifying additional resources for struggling students - when tutoring, mentoring, or other academic support services are available, I will share this with students and families using the SPA Families and SPA Student Gmail accounts.
