The beginning band is for students that want to learn how to play a concert band instrument. Students do not need to have any prior musical training. Students will learn how to read music, how to play an instrument, and how to work collaboratively in a rehearsal setting.

The following instruments are accepted in the beginning band: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, mallets, and drums.

“Standard Of Excellence” by Bruce Pearson. The book will cost between $8.00 and $14.00 and can be purchased at local music stores or online. There might be used books available for check-out or new books available for purchase when you pick up your instrument (depending on supplies).

At least three working reeds at all times!! (buy 10 to begin if your budget allows)
Beginners should start with size 2 reeds
