The board canvassed and certified the results of the May 6 school board election.
Mitch Hammonds (Place 6), Jarrod Roberts (Place 1), and Bruce Elsey (Place 7) were sworn in to a three year term each.
After their swearing in the board voted on their organizational structure, electing to keep Sarah York as Board President, Mitch Hammonds as Board Vice President, and Ann-Marie Afflerbach as Board Secretary.
The numerous students of the Sanger FFA and their vast accomplishes from this school year were presented to the board.
Additional student recognitions included State Powerlifting Qualifier Emma Houchin, and Third Place State Powerlifter Weston Hill.
McKinley Corbin was also recognized for her astounding accomplishment of graduating with her associates degree from NCTC. Yes, a high school senior has completed her associates before walking the stage and graduating high school! She is the first ever SHS student to have acheived this, and is already inspiring other students to follow in her footsteps.
Linda Tutt High School presented this month's campus spotlight: an in-depth look at their campus and how their various programs make a positive, lasting impact in the lives of their students.
Education Support System, the company contracted by the district to employ our substitute teachers, recognized a Sanger Substitute with the ESS Impact Award for her impact on her campus. This award is determined based on nominations received from all of their clients. Congratulaitons to Nataly Hernandez on this recogniztion! As part of her award, she is able to choose a campus to receive a monetary donation: her selected campus, Linda Tutt High School, received $500 as a result of her hard work and impact.
After presentations by Katie Martin and Heather Donaldson, and a second presnetation by Dawn Payne and Elizabeth Chapmond, the board voted to purchase IXL, a digital learning platform which provides comprehensive, TEKS-aligned content for Kindergarten to Grade 12, and Step Up to Writing, collection of classroom-proven, multi-sensory strategies for all genres of writing.
Defensify window film has been installed on every campus.
Green Watt Door Security lighting installation has been completed at CTE and is now operational. The lighting installation is almost complete at SHS and will be live soon. The next campus to begin the installation process will be BES.
Panic buttons installation has been scheduled for June.
Project Manager Mr. Teems provided his monthly update to the board on the progress of construction for the bond projects.
It has officially been one year since the bonds passed and the planning process began. Although not much of the work has been visible thus far, the planning pieces are crucial to get right and require a lot of attention to details.
Inflation is starting to drop, which will help us stay on budget.
The high school project will go out for bids in July, while bids for the Ag building are due next week.
CCI is almost ready for their summer work, which will begin May 27!
In keeping with normal board meeting affairs, the board heard financial reports from CFO Monica Herren and a teaching and learning update from Assistant Superintendent Jennie Flaa.
