As we eagerly prepare to start the new school year, I wanted to be sure to communicate some important information regarding this school year’s procedures and protocols.
Attendance will be taken daily, regardless of the student learning environment. For those attending in person, your teacher will take attendance each hour, just as they would in a normal school year. However, on these days, students or parents must log in and self-certify they are symptom free in order to provide for everyone’s protection. If you are sick, or feel like you are getting sick, please stay home. Attendance will also not be part of the criteria for finals exemption as long as we are affected by the pandemic. You can find the link to the daily COVID screening as well as instructions on our website, but I will also provide the link here.
On days when those in person learners are remote, or for those fully remote, we ask that you log into Teacherease and complete your attendance check-in by 9:30 am on those days. Everyone will get the chance to practice this on Tuesday September 8th, as the Middle School and High School will be Remote on that day. Remote Learning Attendance Instructions
When students are learning remotely, they will be responsible for checking in on their attendance and then logging into Google Classroom to check for their lessons and assignments. There will not be a required time for each class when working remotely at this time. Students are responsible for completing their assignments by the assigned due date and teachers will be available either through specified office hours or by appointment. Teachers will communicate their personal protocol for contacting them through their syllabi and when in person with students. Check out the Remote Learning Expectations for additional information. Any high school remote learner who has not yet received their materials, or who need a device should contact the High School Office @ 217-668-2392.
**Please note that Tuesday, September 8th is a Remote Learning Day for all students attending SVMS/SVHS. Teachers have set up Google Classrooms. All students should log into their Google Classrooms on Tuesday and complete assignments. If you do not have a class that is listed on your schedule, please contact the school or your teacher. Teachers will post welcome assignments and information such as their syllabi and expectations for this school year.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone soon! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Field, SVHS Principal
