SVHS Newsletter December 2020
SVHS Newsletter December 2020
We are in the middle of the fourth week of fully remote learning and hanging in there. I want to offer a big thank you to all students, parents, and teachers who have worked to make this difficult transition as easy as possible. We are hopeful that we can get back to meeting in person in January, while still keeping our students and staff safe!
I want to reiterate just how appreciative I am of the teachers and the hard work they have been putting in during this challenging time. They continue to adapt, continue to try and meet our students where they are and are diligent in trying to be flexible and understanding as we all try to navigate this situation together. This isn’t the school year that any of us wanted, but we are all continuing to make the best out of it!
While students are remote, you must log into Teacherease and complete your attendance check-in by 8:10 am. If you can’t get to it until later, or you forgot, don’t worry about it! Just get it done and let Ms. Moore know in the office at rmoore@sangamonvalley.org. This must be completed in order for us to count you as present for attendance.
Some teachers are offering tutoring hours in the afternoons in person now, as well as the usual Google Meet sessions in the afternoon and if any student is interested, please contact your teachers to discuss availability. However, keep in mind that you must still be logging in to your classes in the mornings, and trying to schedule some time over Google if possible before this is a viable option. Any student coming into the building for tutoring, don’t forget to log in daily to self-certify that you are symptom free before entering the building. If you, or someone in your home is sick, or feels like they are getting sick, please stay home. If transportation is needed for your student to attend tutoring, contact the main office to work out a schedule.
We are still waiting on our Chromebook shipment and once it arrives we will outfit every student who does not currently have a device. I am told they could be shipped at any time, but due to the world-wide shortage things are uncertain. Until then, students are welcome to bring a personal device to connect to our student network. Should you have issues with internet access, or accessibility to a device, please contact the main office. We currently don’t have any more chromebooks left to hand out, but we can put you on a waiting list if you are in immediate need of a device.
