San Diego Unified School District provides routine health screenings and wellness programs to support the overall well-being and academic success of all students. Screenings are conducted in accordance with state guidelines and are designed to identify potential health concerns early.
Screenings are administered by Nurse Madison at school. Results are confidential.
Vision screenings are administered to students in Kindergarten, 2nd, 5th, and 8th grades, as well as to students referred by teachers, parents, or for IEP assessments.
Screening includes tests for near and distance vision.
If your child does not pass, a referral will be sent home with recommended next steps.
Hearing tests are administered to students in Kindergarten, 2nd, 5th, and 8th grades, as well as to students referred by teachers, parents, or for IEP assessments.
These screenings help identify hearing loss that can affect language development and learning.
Follow-up referrals are provided when needed.
