The Continuum of Professional Learning for FAST Reading is organized with success criteria to help you determine the next step in your learning and quickly access materials.
Requirements for 2024-2025:
Middle School: All grades take the FAST 3 times; Fall, Winter, and Spring
High School: Ninth graders and ALL English Learners must take the assessment during the Fall and Spring windows. Winter is optional for all students.
We suggest all students take the assessment in the Fall so educators know their reading level, but that is a site-based decision.
August 5 -September 6
December 2 - December 20
March 24 - April 25
Note regarding testing outside of the windows:
New students can take the universal screener at any time after they are enrolled at your site and are in FAST (typically two days from enrollment date).
If the test is given outside the screening windows, the scores will show up on teacher level reports, but with no local norms and won't be displayed in the District level reports.
Check out the FAST Tile on Illuminate for detailed instructions on FAST administration.
