The 11th Grade English Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum, based on the theme of Power & Systems, allows students to analyze and generate texts from different voices. They will examine questions such as What is the American Dream? Whose land? Borders: Harmful or Helpful? What does it mean to belong in America? How do we move from what "just" is to "justice"? Who is America? and will explore texts from Indigenous, Black, and People of Color. They will do this while working towards mastery of the SDUSD Critical Concepts which are based on the CA Common Core Standards. Every unit culminates with an opportunity for students to reflect on and then share their learning. This curriculum was designed to meet the needs of ALL students - - so that students get WHAT they need, WHEN they need it, in the WAY that they need it.
