Honor Unit with Distinction

San Diego High School Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a Department of the Army Honor Unit with Distinction, the highest rating by the Army and noted by the gold star worn on the uniforms of it's Cadets. It was the first JROTC battalion organized in San Diego County, earning the designation.

The 1st Battalion

Also known as the "Caver Battalion" in honor of the school mascot, is unlike any other class or club at school. It is focused on meeting the JROTC mission, vision, and values as well as following the tenants of the JROTC Cadet Creed and The Army Values. In other words, it helps make good students great! Great at school, as part of a team, and as a great citizen. One of the best parts of JROTC is that students lead it. They lead as part of a leadership team or staff, by planning, coordinating, and executing almost everything that happens in and outside of class. Of course, all JROTC leaders are followers too. That is why JROTC Cadets are such great leaders....they have real leadership experience because they lead and follow every day.
