The students will develop podcasts based on their school, community or history that every students should be aware of through the NPR Student Podcast Challenge. The project begins with students connecting with Mid City CAN advocacy training to discover the advocacy within themselves and in their community. Students will work with I News Source reporters to develop and produce their podcast. The students will be interviewing a person about the topic they selected as well and will be given training on interviewing techniques through a journalist from I News Source. The culmination of work will be a podcast submitted to the NPR Student Podcast Challenge in March 2024 on a topic of advocacy in the lives that they believe would have impact on others in the nation. The students will be using technology throughout the project to develop the podcast, collect data, and develop ways to express ideas through “The Cardinal” Hoover Newspaper and submitting to the NPR Podcast Challenge.
