During her 20-year news career she covered everything from hurricanes to wildfires, but she always wanted to work with students. The Pathway
This entry level course introduces students to the basics of Video Production. Students will learn about advertising and marketing for television and social media. Projects include filming Public Service Announcements and Commercials, they will also learn about behind the scenes of Movie making and writing a Film Script. The main focus of Video Production 1-2 is to prepare students to learn how to operate a television studio. These production skills will be put to the test when they continue on to Broadcast Journalism 1-2 and become part of the Hawkeye News, a student produced news show that airs during Advisory period.
Students will engage in a variety of activities designed to increase their knowledge of Broadcast Journalism. This class will ask students to express themselves through researching writing and creating media projects. Hands-on, real-world news reporting activities will require students to be creative, responsible and professional. We use an actual working television news studio to produce the Hawkeye News. Our students put the show together, we have a director, producer camera operators, audio technician and anchors. This is a great opportunity for students to get hands on experience and practice presentation skills both on camera and off screen.
