Image of a 12th grader student schedule is on the right ---->
Numbers on the top 1-4 represent Period 1,2,3,4. Find Q1 and read it to left to right. S1 = semester one which includes Q1 and Q2.
Q1 and Q3 = First Semester of a course
Q2 and Q4 = Second Semester of a course
Q1-Q4 will provide final grades on a transcript.
A student will have 8 final credits on their transcript by end of first semester.
This 11th grader chose City College Courses instead of high school electives. They will earn college and high school credits are the same time!
Under the 4×4, students will take four semester-long classes per semester instead of six year-long classes. Proponents of the 4x4 schedule cite that it allows more opportunity for remediation, acceleration and flexibility. Four periods in one school day - each period is roughly 90 minutes long. We do a full year in one semester. Students can earn 16 credits in one school year compared to a six period day schedule would earn 12 credits in one school year.
At LMEC High, we have 4 quarters and 4 periods in each quarter. That is 8 courses in one school year (16 credits potentially earned). If a course is not completed in the previous year, it may be added to the following school year (if summer school was not attended).
