The Common Application is a single online college application form used by over 900 colleges and universities. Instead of filling out the same general information—like your address, GPA, and extracurriculars— a dozen times, you only have to do it once. The Common App dashboard also helps you track necessary application documents (like your letters of recommendation) and important deadlines.
Common App is mainly used for out of state colleges or Private colleges/universities by Clairemont High students. Common App has a list of colleges that Common App can be used for. Every college on Common App could have individual requirements like the number of letters of recommendation required.
Student's counselor MUST be notified if student is using Common App as more steps are required by counselor such as sending a school report and transcripts throughout the school year. Students are encouraged to check the Counseling Google classroom for resources on how to add colleges to their Xello account, sending college and high school transcripts, and letters of recommendation/teacher evaluations.

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a tuition-savings program that makes attending out-of-state colleges and universities more affordable for students.
Participating two- and four-year public colleges and universities across the Western U.S. agree to charge out-of-state students no more than 150 percent of the institution’s in-state tuition. Tuition savings may vary depending on the college or major.
When applying to these participating colleges - students should search the college and WUE as the WUE program at every college has different directions on how to apply for the program (it's not automatic).
UC San Diego and SDSU have HIGH GPA requirements and lower acceptance rates. Staying local is becoming more difficult. Students/families are encouraged to explore the WUE program and it's participating colleges/states as options.
