WELCOME TO
Rm 24!
We ARE the Powerful Wolves!
(Visit the bottom of the page and get a closer look at the art!)
Project Goal: We would like a mural at our school.
Reasons:
To represent people in our community and how they are changemakers.
Show how people have built equity in our community and inspire them to continue to fight for equity.
Plain walls feel bland and makes us tired. Murals will make us feel happy, creative and the art work is entertaining to look at.
People will see our mural and help support changemakers.
It will give people hope that the world is a good place.
The class divided themselves into 3 committees:
Art Committee: Antonio, JJ, Ian and Jade
Interview & Writing Committee: Arden, Rosa, Arizbet, Cami, Kaneshia and Tony
Project Management & Fundraising Committee: Elliott, Damian, Adam, Bruce, Eliot and Fredrick
This project has been extremely collaborative. Though we had 3 committees many students worked in between committees depending on their strengths and interests. I am thrilled with the progress we have made and can't wait to see where we will end up!

Lynn is a changemaker by fighting for LGBT rights for partners to receive health benefits in the San Diego United School District. Lynn sued the Boys & Girls Club for their former policy that forbid people in the LGBT community from participating in the organization. In addition, they fought for adoption rights for the LGBT community as well as supported students by training all teachers in the San Diego Unified School District to teach physical education.
The Art Committee helped find pictures of local changemakers and began sketching their faces for the mural.

Look through a few pictures of our tour!
Victor is a muralist and he spoke with our class about how murals are built. Miniature models need to be built and approved before they can be turned into large murals. Victor is holding the model for the current mural that is being painted at Chicano Park.
Rigo zoomed in to speak with us about how he became an activist in our community. He highlighted at the end of his talk that he thinks of Mountain View School as the definition of changemakers.
Scroll through and look at some of the sketches that have been started for our mural!
Here are logos of local changemaker organizations that the students researched. They plan to add these logos to the mural.
Our Art Committee and Writing Committee joined forces to create fliers for our Mural Project. Details will be updated as we get more information on how we plan to fundraise.
Listen to our Social Justice Music Collection!
Songs were collected through interviews with Family members, Staff and or recommended by us.
