Week 3- Journal

This week task was to use the 3d design and make a pen holder . for inspiration i went through several websites like thingiverse,3axis and my favorite one instructables.

Unfortunately some of this models was going to use a lot of material and time .

I found it on YouTube and it was a new shape simple and beautifully designed . I add some features and changed its shape and make my own version of it .
I found it on Youtube .

I used that certain design because its simple and yet it has a great looking inspired by the Aladdin palace towers . something Arabic in its nature .

Fusion 360
I used fusion 360 for designing .
That app has a great feature to show you how your object is going to look like in real life.
You can chose the material like glass , metal or wood .Also it helps you to choose the color.

For printing I used blue PLA filament for printing.
and the machine was Prusa .

First i drew 3 sketches one of them was a circle and the other tow were polygonal .

Next I used loft tool and connected them in 3d and it gave me that shape.
unfortunately I found its going to be very short so I extruded the top circle .

Then i exported the file as stl and i found out it was saved with out using the tool shell so I had to open the app again and reuse it . Finally i edited the printing parameters using cura .

I used Cura to edit the printing parameters . and it was going to consume a lot of material more than 30 gm and more than 90 mints so I edited it at home but the shape changed completely .at the fablab with the help of Amany one of the instructors we edited it again so it took .
Time :51 mints
Material : blue PLA 0.3
weigh : 15 gm
Infill : 0

I made it smaller so it consumed 14 gm and 1hr and 9 mints .

Then i cut the supporters

At the begging it took me 3 hours cause i chose some difficult objects and the shape was not satisfying. One of the mistakes that I didn't create thee shape at the origin and that lead to deleting the design and starting allover again. I thought it was really simple to use the origin point but it was not . the second thing the sweep tool was really hard to use and join it with the main body . The Most important thing I learned toddy to save every step you took cause believe me the app might not respond suddenly and all your work will not be there waiting for you to open it again .

how to give the figure a real appearance like a real product .

Actually I was happy to learn the 3d printing though it it needs a lot of training but gives you a grate ability in the making world. WOW moment was the extra session about resin and modeling. It was a great moment . How its simple to make really beautiful simple smooth objects in your home using the resin material .How were we able to give it different colors and glitter .

I used fusion 360 for the design and give the shape a physical appearance to see thee final product how its going to look like
