final print
my pen holder design render
Today's assignment is to Design a model of a pen and pencil holder that rest on a flat surface (Table Top) using design features that we used this week in fusion 360.
exporting .STL and get it ready with CURA software to be 3d printed with parameter values to not exceed the time or weight limit (30 grams or up to 90 minutes)
i used fusion 360 to design the pen holder
and used cura to slice the .stl file and get the weight as requirements
options made before the final
final design
for the design we had to use the features of Fusion 360 (Revolve, Sweep, and Loft).
we did practice before using
pen slot shape
the pan or plat part
the extruded half
all sketches preview
loft feature for pen slot shape
revolve feature for the plat
the extruded half
all sketches preview
steps is that i made the cone shape pen slot using loft feature from a smaller circle to a larger one , for the nut shape part it was a hexagon shape extruded and slightly scaled outwards .
then i mad a plat using revolve feature , add the extruded part
assembled the shape and copied the pen cone shape one more and positioned then mirrored it on the other side so i have now 3 pen slots
from here i just moved objects and abused the fillet feature :D
next step will be cura mainly to reduce weight and time
final model component
after i created the new component made from all the bodies
i colored it for a quick render
and then exported the .stl file
in CURA the slicer software i use , i imported the file and re oriented the model on its flat surface and i add a support for the slope in the outer shape i slected pla and made sure of the heat to be (215)
then scaled down the model to 95% slightly to not exceed the 90 min it was all 13 grams and 1h28min
slicing in CURA
gcode file was the coped on the sd card and opened on the machine
files was selected
i waited for the pre heating of the device and then waited tell the first layers started it had a strain problem so we cancelled the first print and cleaned the plate and started another one it went fine and here is a quick view of the print in the gif
we had a fun activity last session in the lab where we had a partner each marwa was my partner, i started piloting dimensions from the lego parts to draw it in fusion 360 , we picked a hard part it was the lego pants. but we made it :D
the slack community is so helpful actually before even i got stuck :D
but when i got stuck i message our instructor Menna and she's always helpful so thank you Menna
Title of Media
i learned that you can print assembled joint directedly on the printer like the fidget toy or a chain for example
