assembled Final real stand
fusion render for the phone stand model
some sketches
This week’s assignment was to create our own phone holder, that consists of at least two parts 2.5D. i wanted it to be more than a phone holder so i added a place in the back for pen and tools
We used fusion 360 which is a software to draw and design cad files and previewing assembled designs.
my shape was made of 5 parts assembled with t slots with guides
will be made of plywood 3mm thickness and fastened with 6 screws and nuts

first prototype
i got the idea from our online make session we made with cardboard i refined it with the new tools i learned through the week firstly
i had the idea so i did some sketches to obtain scale to my phone and get more dimension to start the drawing phase
i then i started the design in fusion 360 with a fully defined sketches
i drew the sides and the walls and the ground shapes each separately in its own sketch
Then assembled it to make sure of parts correctly preview
after that i exported all parts sketches to .dxf files,
i added artwork for engraving on adobe illustrator but you can skip it,
next step will be preparing file for LaserWork and assembling parts together
phew ...... ... fully defined
all parts and walls and grounds
assembled preview on fusion
i imported the file into LaserWork and re arranged items according to my sheet size to not exceed its Hight and i set the cutting and engraving
CUT (black color) power to 68 and speed to 200.
SCAN/engraving (RED Color) power to 30 and speed to 300.
those numbers can be changed slightly according to tube age and from a machine to another
i previewed the file and made sure everything is fine
then downloaded the file with a new name to the machine
on the machine i placed the wooden sheet in place i setted the origin of the head in X and Y to 0 and made a test preview to make sure my design is within the sheet placed
after that i re focused the laser through the Z axis with the side switch and a piece of a plexiglass 6mm thickness
then i started the file to cut
unfortunately engraving power was too low so the engraving part was not visible
so we re engraved separately on the same part again with same setting, using the outline of the part as a reference .
re engraving cause power was too low in the first time
first engrave was not visible enough
after some sanding
burned edges from laser cutting
sheriff our college shared with us how to but an image as a reference image for sketching it was so helpful , i tried to help but im still learning so i don't think i can,
i paused many times to learn more about constrains in fusion 360 , i did the mistake of adding many constrains and my laptop did not like it much :s ,
and fully defined sketches where a headache to me and my pc
my advice try to be specific in your measurements and think more about them
phew ...... ... fully defined
sample
i can use it in my project's Enclosure box to add custom screen window or buttons and other key features that keep wires away of hand
joints and movable things was cool and fun
texture was cool i discovered a free library in fusion itself niceee :D
