Week 1- Journal

. I chose a simple design easy to be implement on time and match all the requirements 

the first design that will be done by the laser cutter l chose it to be a key chain 

the second design that will be done by the 3d printer i chose it to be a cat model

to do the laser cutter key chain 

1. I searched for a design on  (3axis.co) 

2. I chose the design in dxl format 

3. I imported the dxl file on RD works software 

4. I edited the parameters to match the laser cutter machine

5. yellow for  cutting with speed 40 and power 45

6. red for scanning with speed 250 and power 25

7.  light blue for speed cutting  with speed 300 and power 10

8. then i saved the file in plc format

to do the 3d printing cat model

1. I searched for a design on   (Thingiverse) 

2. I chose the design in STL format 

3. I imported the STL file on CURA software 

4. I edited the parameters to match time and requirements

5. then i made slicing 

quality 0.2 infill 10 with adhesion and no supports

the implementation in 3d printing 

1. prepare the filament and adjust it in the (nozol)

2. clean the plate from any extra plastic 

3. transferring G code file to 3d printing machine 

4. choose my file on the machine 

5. then the machine started to fabricate

Implementation in steps:  laser cutter

1I turn on the  laser machine suction.

2I press on file and chose my file 

3. set the origin on wood sheet and simulating the framing to make sure that the  cut will be  in the right place.

4 makeingsure everything is OK I press START.

Choosing the right line to cut was a bit of a challenge. Since the frame of the keychain is selected to be scanned, it's important that we don't end up with two lines with different functions. To solve this, by the help of lab specialist instructions . I copied the outer line and changed its dimensions to be larger than the frame line. Then, I selected it to be cut.
