This week's assignment aims to find out the practical applications of two fabrication techniques: laser cutting and 3D printing. I seledcted certain designs with 3D printing and others using laser cutting. The aim is to understand each technique's special advantages and how to apply them to produce useful or attractive items.

The 3D Printing
For 3D model design, I chose a butterfly necklace, and it's a simple and single design without complicated details.
It was (.STL) format.
I used Ultimaker Cura for the slicing process.

The lab specialist reviewed the design in Ultimaker Cura to see if the printer settings and design scale were suitable.
We moved the design to SD card and then I entered the card into the printer and I selected my design and then the printer started working

I adjusted the scale to represent the butterfly's height from 1 mm to 5 mm and its size, 85 * 26 * 5.

Laser Cutting Process
The lab specialist reviewed the design in RDWorksV8 to see if the speed and power of the laser are suitable, and then we transferred the rld file to the PC laser-cut machine.
The lab specialist suggested adjusting the speed and power of the scan to a speed of 320 and a power of 20. To make the scan light, because the power (25) and speed (300) I put in it would have been darker.
After downloading, the design file is in the laser cutting machine. I went to the control box in the laser machine.
I selected my design file from the machine's memory, and I had to set the machine's starting origin and click "Frame" to ensure that no design elements were missing from the plywood sheet.
