Wooden Neckless chain
Duck keychain
This week we learnt about laser cutting and 3D printing so my assessment revolves around creating 3D-printed and laser-cut printed files. I chose a duck keychain and a wooden neckless chain.
I choose them to be my items and be with most of the time.
Programs :
Ultimaker Cura for 3d printing using filament
Physical tools:
prusa i3 MK3 machine for 3d printing
woods to apply in the laser cut machine
RD works for laser cutting using wood
plastic filament to apply in the Prusa machine
Laser cut machine for cutting the wood
Wooden neckless
Duck keychain
My first design is a keychain
first, I downloaded the files from the Thingiverse website, then prepared the files in the Cura program by adjusting the height. Infill, scale, and support to be modified for the 3D printing machine.
My scend design was wooden necklaces first, I downloaded the files from the http://3axis.co/ website, then prepared the files in the RD program by adjusting the cut, scan, and speed cut to be designed for the laser cut machine .Black for cutting: power = 45, speed = 40 / Red for scanning: power = 25, speed = 250 /blue for speed cut: power = 25, speed = 250
I prepared the files in the RD works in laser cut by adjusting the scan, cut, and speed. I chose the parts (scan/cut/laser cut) according to my performance but speed/power I prepared them according to the machine modification like the photo shown Black for cutting: power = 45, speed = 40 /Red for scanning: power = 25, speed = 250 /blue for speed cut: power = 25, speed = 250 .
then I downloaded the file to the computer which connected to the laser cut and ensured everything was okay.
In 3d printing, I prepared the files in the Cura program by adjusting the height. Infill, scale, support, - infill 20 - and I decreased the resolution as shown in the photo to decrease the gram and time then i downloaded the file to SD card and insert it to pursa
in pursa before starting, I checked the filament, the color, and the first layer to ensure everything was okay.
yes. First I planned to make a wooden keychain plus a 3D keychain but my friend suggested a keychain and necklaces would be something different
my peers helped me a lot by encouraging me and choosing the colors.
I got stuck during the printing phase. I couldn't convert the file from STL to Gcod. then I searched in the portal and asked for help in the lap and my problems were solved.
my common mistakes were in time management and technical problems like ( dealing with (the laser cut machine /3d printing machine ) for the first time. I didn't know how to open the machine and the safety requirement so I asked the lap specialist. She helped me in dealing with the machine.
I can use these skills in choosing and designing my final project by using cura in 3d printing and RD work for laser cut
The coolest thing is how easily I can print any design
I will never forget how enjoyable working in different team
we worked together into groups in preparing the files in cura and RDwork then we fabricate them together in the lap
