The Work idea is designing a mini electric lift model by using cardboard with some electronics to carry the objects for the upper floors.
My inspiration came from that I was interested in space elevator and how can they make it. So, I decided to make a small elevator the understand the theory and how it works.
Software
1.TinkerCad:
I used TinkerCad software to build the circuit in the first to check it and check the circuit before the real connection.
Electrical Components
1. DC motor:
The DC motor is a motor used to carry the elevator up with a string.
3. On/Off Switch:
On/Off switch is used to make the motor and lamp on or off according to the required state.
5. 5V adaptor:
The 5V adaptor used as a power supply for the circuit.
7. Terminal block adaptor:
This terminal used to connect the jumpers of positive and negative with the power source.
2. Mini Breadboard:
This board used to connect the components together in order to reduce the number of used wires.
4. LED:
The red LED is used to indicate that the elevator is going up.
6. Jumper wires:
Those wires used for connections between component, and breadboard.
8. Resistors:
The electrical resistance used to reduce the current flow.
Stationary Components
1. Cardboard.
2. Scissors.
3. Hot glue gun.
4. String.
5. Tape.
At the first, I open Tinkercad to start in circuit building.
I brought Hobby motor, switch, power supply, 220-ohm resistor, and red LED.
Then I connected the component in parallel to get enough current to operate all circuit component.
I started simulation to make sure from the given current will be enough to let the LED and hobby motor work.
I rebuilt the circuit as the same way I used in Tinkercad, I fix the motor in the upper of the elevator, and I made a box behind the elevator to put all component inside it.
I put LED red lamp in the front of the elevator to show the second type of the output (light emission) by connecting the positive lamp side with a positive in breadboard and the negative side with the negative in the breadboard.
Device testing
Really, this week is full of challenges for me. I started with the circuit building, the switch with motor and LED circuit was hard in building for me. This made me listen to alot of videos about the connections as although my specialization is physics. But it's a first time to work with breadboard and it takes a lot to be handled.
The second challenge for me was that the motor doesn't stop automatically when reached to the top of the elevator which also let me practice a lot for the time of turn off the switch.
The third challenge was I need to use the LED in the front of elevator and I deal with this by trying differnet connections to get the required design.
It was a hard choice for me, but it helps me to learn a lot about the different types of connections and how can I use unlimited strategies to reach to the goal. The viedos hepled me alot in enhancing my understanding to the physical concepts and how can I apply in the real life.
EOWeek Session
This week was funny, we made a race by design a Sumo car by using, it was comptative, enjoyable and taught me a lot about how can design a car and make it work. I learned also about the arms of playing and I know how it works which was interesting for me.
