The Work idea is preparing a cool glasses which consists of only one piece of wood for the frame with file extension DXF that will be integrated then with a 3D printed arms for week 2 assignment by using Fusion 360.
Usually, I faced a lot of problems in choosing my glass when I was young. So, I loved to make a glass which totally deals with my personal taste.
The inspiration came from my frustrated felling when I found that all glasses in various shops don't suit me all times, so I decided to make a glass that suitable for me.
The photo is not my design I just take the idea of making an integrated glasses.
The locally machine which called El Malky ML149 CO2 Laser Cutter for cutting the front frame of glasses.
Plywood 3mm sheet that used in the cutting process.
1. LaserWorkV6 Application which used to prepare the design before cutting process.
2. Fusion 360 which used for sketching the glasses frame design.
Prusa i3 MK3 Printer which used for printing the arms of the glasses
PLA Filament which is the polymer which consist of the required design.
1.UltiMaker Cura Program that used to prepare the design arms dimension and determine the requied time and amount of filament that will be used before printing.
2. Fusion 360 which used for sketching the glasses arms design.
At the first, I tried to design the front frame with different ways which can be natural as soon as possible by using Fusion 360.
The dimensions of the glasses were taken from the internet by searched about the standard dimensions of the human glasses.
I started with drawing the first half of the frame, the first design was the two inside rectangles with dimensions 50 mm x 45 mm and then filleted with dimensions 10 mm.
Trim the below sides of rectangle and then complete it with lines to take the shape of the natural glass.
Make an offset for the insider rectangle to be able to extrude cut the internal lens.
Then I trim the right side from the upper of the outer rectangle to make the bridge that connects between the two lenses.
Used lines to make the connections in the bridge as shown in the design. And then make a circuit with dimeter 3.3 mm for the screw.
for the lines that are horizontals I used constrains to make those lines defined. And I also used the tangent constrain to make the frame fillet is completely connected with the lines of the inner and outer frame.
In this stage, I was finished the design of the left glasses frame. Then I draw a construction line and made a mirror image to complete the whole frame of the glasses.
finally, I obtained the required design, So I save it as DXF, and then open the LaserWork software and import the files.
At the first, I started with drawing arms of the glasses by drawing on the right and left end of frame sketch with the same dimensions of those ends.
I draw over the frame of glass edges and made a rectangle which will be extruded to get the arm length. The distance between the two sides of the same arm is 5mm and the length of arm extruded with 14 mm.
The I made a projectile circle from the frame on the arm to make sure from the accurate position of it with the same diameter in the frame to put the screw inside it.
I did the same for the second arm by using mirror. And then I extruded all body (arms) to make sure from the dimensions of the design.
After that made a fillet to all edges of the two arms to be accepted according to the criteria of assignment.
Then I exported the arms design in Stl extension.
Then I imported the design in Cura and adjust some settings like temperature to be 215 instead of 200C.
I sliced the design to determine the time or printing and the amount of filament.
The time is suitable and the number of grams. So, I saved the file and uploaded the G - code on the flash memory of 3D printer.
My design wasn't needing support so, I didn't use any supports.
The 3D model is customized using the appearance features such as deep purple color from PLA filament.
In LaserWork software I determined that the outer frame and inside one to be cut and made then with black to define the process for the machine.
I customized the cut conditions as the following:
Speed: 25
Power: 65
Finally, I saved the file with ai extension, and the file is ready now for next step.
Click to Green circular button to turn on the machine.
From the PC connected to machine open Laserwork software and import my file.
Adjust the power and speed according to required conditions.
Click download to be able to upload the file to the machine.
From machine, click file and then I choose my file name.
Move the machine nozzle to determine the dimensions of the desirable design and reduce the wood waste.
Fix the plywood well to make sure that the nozzle will cut as design setting.
Click frame, until you determined the area of cutting.
Turn on the cooling bottom.
Close the door of the machine and click start.
After I got the frame I sprayed it with blue color to match with the arms.
Upload the G - code on the memory of the printer.
Insert the memory in the printer.
Clean the surface of printer with Alcohol before start.
Choose the file of my design and click start.
After printing, remove the support to get the required product.
The most challenge I faced in this week is the arms of my glasses did not similar in the dimensions and I tried to draw them for several times until I reached to most suitable one but it also not completely true.
The solution was drawing the bended part of the arm on the frame sketch to completely make sure from the correct dimensions.
The idea of solution was an advice of the instructor Eman and then I completed to get the complete the second arm with the same idea.
In this week I got a huge experience in dealing with Fusion 360. There was a lot of challenges which depending on trials and errors until I reached to required design. This experience makes me more aware with design and love to learn more. I started to do a lot of designs which makes me take steps in the design direction. And I wish that knowledge can be enhanced in the next weeks Inshallah.

EOWeek Session
One of the most fantastic weeks that we did a female robot which consists of two different parts with different materials:
Head obtained from 3D printer
Body by using Laser Cutting
Our team was wonderful, helpful and enjoyable.
