Now , I gonna make a pen holder .
I study in FACULTY OF APPLIED ARTS so I have many tools that need to be arranged specially pens as I use different types of them , so I wanna some thing helping me to arrange them to make it easier when I need someone of them .
_ Software
For designing
For laser cutting
_ Machines
For laser cutting
_ Materials
plywood
for laser cutting
M 3 screws
for attachment
Firstly, Designing the front frame
using fusion 360 :
I started sketching the faces of the pen holder one by one ( using rectangle and circle ) .
Without forgetting to make sure that the sketch was fully defined .
Made the joints places * using T_slot
Extruded the sketches and copy & paste similar parts ( front & back and 2 sides ) .
Jointed them together starting with the bottom to the top . And checked the interference to make sure that they have jointed successfully .
Saved each face of the design in * DXF format .
5 . using laser work :
Imported my DXF file
Set the settings of color , speed and power .
Saved the file in *AI format .
took it on my memory card .
1 . Sketches
2 . Extrude
3 . Joints
4 . Save
5 . Laser works
For laser cutter :
I turned the machine on
Opened my file on the PC connected to the machine
Checked its settings again (color , speed , power)
Downloaded my file
Went to the machine ,
specified the starting point using arrows and enter
Tested the focus by pressing pulse
Tested the frame of the design by pressing frame
After finishing preparation pressed start
Waited to get my pen holder🎉😍
finally...
For attachment :
Bring the faces ( bottom , top , tow sides , front and back ) and screws .
Using t_slot joints to collect the pen hlolder .
Using the screws to attach then together .
According to joints ( t_slots & brackets ) :
T _slots : sometimes the dimensions do not fit in its right place , so during jointing I found that they do not set in its place .
To solve that : Our instructors in the EOWeek session told us about the interference which helps us to check the correctness of the assembly .
At this week we learned how to make an assembly , and usually when we design something that has many parts , it be designed individually then need to be assembled then jointed . So of course we will need to use this technique in the final project as it will contain many components.
For Brackets : when we designed the lantern assembly in the hands on activity in lab , we forgot to let 3 mm space between the wall and the bracket , so we could not use it .🙂
But we learned !😌
We made this lantern assembly 🤩
It was the session exercise in Lab ...
I enjoyed making it with my team .🥰
