Firstly,
Now I wanna make something with Laser cutter machine , so I gonna make a photo frame . By the end of my diploma, I will provide it with the pictures that I took with my friends there so that I can keep them as a beautiful memory.🥰
Secondly,
As for the 3D printer, I wanna make earrings, and there is no important reason for it, I just love them.😄😍

The assignment was to get a 2d model from an opensource library with DXF Format and prepare it for fabrication using Laser cutter .
So, I browsed (Laser Cut Heart Shaped Multi Picture Frame Hanging Gallery DXF File Free Download - 3axis.co )
an opensource CAD library , then, picked the 2d model with *.DXF format
After that , went to Laser Work software to prepare the *.DXF file and did the following :
Imported my file
Scaled ( by locking the proportion between width and height then scale the design down to 50% )
And rotated it as I want to suit the sheet( At an angle of 90 degrees)
Adjusted the settings, including color, speed, power, and output
Exported the file as *.ai format
Took it on my memory card .
The second assignment was to get a 3d model from an opensource library with STL Format and prepare it for fabrication using 3D printer.
So, I browsed (Rose earrings by DanTech - Thingiverse ) an opensource CAD library
Then, picked 3d model with *.STL format
After that , went to Cura software to prepare the *.STL file and did the following :
Opened my file
Choose the printer (Prusa i3 Mk3) and material ( Generic PLA)
Choose the face that will be start printing with it
Increase its height (z axis) to increase its thickness which make it be a little stronger
Adjusted the print settings from
_ Resolution ( 0.15 )
_ Strength
infill ( 20%) , Support ( un check it as it does not need it ) , Adhesion ( check it to remain the model on the bed without movement )
Clicked on slice to know the time and material that I needed
Clicked preview to check the layers
Saved the file as (*.g code)
For laser cutter :
I turned the machine on
Opened my file on the PC connected to the machine
Checked its settings again (color , speed , power)
Downloaded my file
Went to the machine ,
specified the starting point using arrows and enter
Tested the focus by pressing pulse
Tested the frame of the design by pressing frame
After finishing preparation pressed start
Waited to get my frame 🎉😍
PHOTO FRAME
For 3d printer :
Opened my file on my PC
Checked its settings again (orientation , scale , lay flat , infill , support , adhesion)
Saved to the disk
Took G_CODE from PC to the memory card to connected it to the machine
Went to the machine ,
choose white filament and put it in the machine
Using control knob
Choose print from SD then choose my file name
Checked speed and heating temperature for the filament and bed
Waited to get my earring🎉😍

I faced many challenges on doing this !🙂
firstly , my page journal was not editable , so I asked the instructor and my friends to help me solve it , and it has solved.
And for me , documenting my project is almost the most difficult part of the task , which made me procrastinate doing it , but finally I do it🥳🙏
Also , i was a little afraid as it was the first time dealing with machines , but the instructors helped me doing it step by step .🥰
Given that the topic of this week is making things from materials , and any thing we design needs material to be built whether using laser cutter or 3d printer , so we will certainly take advantage of what we have learned this weak .
This week I got an extra session , his topic was about DOCUMENTATION .
For me , I have benefited a lot about how to document and the importance of documentation.
Also , I have met some new friends which was nice to meet them .🥰
This small cute dog 🤏
is the first thing that I made with Laser cutter ,
so it is very special for me.🥰
