Ideation

Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What inspired you? (Please include images or links to sources of inspiration)

I took my inspiration from this photo. as someone who wears glasses, it was a new and interesting idea to design a pair.

Tool Chain

Which software/machines/materials did you use in the assignment? Why?

I used Fusion 360 to design the frame and model the arms.

For The front We Used Laser Work as Software, Wood sheet as material, and Laser cutter as a machine.

Parameters: Cut: Speed/ 30, Power/ 50

For the arm we used Ultimaker-Cura as Software, PLA Filament as material and 3D printer as a machine.

Parameters: Infill :20, Layer hight: 0.2, With no Support, added a prim to the base because the arm was flat on the machine.

Design/Preparation Process

Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?

For the arm:

I drew a rectangle then extruded it and then.
on the side I drew the screw house.
then extruded it,
to make the side more symmetrical I chose the left one.
Selected fillet from the tab and set the value.
I filleted the end to give it a tapered look.
I added a plastic texture from appearance to test its looks.
saved as mesh and exported it to cura.
the parameters were infill: 20, Layer hight: 0.2, With no Support,
added a prim to the base because the arm was flat on the machine.

For the face:

I draw one triangle.
used offset option to add frame for it,
I drew a line in half the distance of the middle part and used the mirror option to make it identical,
then connected the 2 parts together.
Then added 3mm holes for the screw in the frame.
Finished the sketch then extruded to give it shape,
I added a wood texture from appearance to test its looks.
saved it and exported it to the laser work program.
set the parameter to Cut: Speed/ 30, Power/ 50.

Development/Implementation Process

Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

For the 3D printer:

the parameters were infill: 20, Layer hight: 0.2, With no Support,
First loaded the file on an SD Card
loaded it on the Prusa mk24.
Selected the file,
waited for the bed and nozzle to reach optimal temp.
It took 14 min. for each arm to be done.

For Laser Cutter:

set the parameter to Cut: Speed/ 30, Power/ 50.
Downloaded the file to the machine.
Selected the file.
Determined the origin point.
set the focus.
Closed the led and after 30 sec. It was done.

Overcoming Challenges

What kinds of challenges or problems did you face while doing the assignment, tutorials, or exercises? How did you solve them? Did you ask for help from an instructor or peer? Please provide a link to the tutorial or article that you used to solve your problem (if any)

First was the designing. it was my first time making a design and it was a new experience taking measures and making sure it was right. it wasn't the first few times.

The second was making a fully defined design. it was a struggle and i could not get it fully defined so I locked in some of it. Until finally getting it.

Final Project

How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?

I get experience in the designing and making fully defined sketches. and I know how to scale something to areal dimension.

What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?

The coolest thing was designing some thing from scratch without any help
