my design idea changed a lot but the last one I reached is expressing the ottoman era I designed a pen holder inspired by that era and at the same time it takes a bean saucepan shape somehow and tries to make a geometric base for that shape to hold it and because I like cartoonish shapes so I decided to make eyes to that shape to make as a character.
one of the ottoman era supplies that I inspired my pen holder from
(the softwares I used in that assignment was ( fusion 360 ) to sketch the design on it then used ( Ultimaker Cura ) to define some features on the design to print it on the 3D printing machine).
I used FUSION to sketch the pen holder with specific dimensions & to apply some features to it like( extrude, revolve, fillet and chamfer...) to see the design how it looks like before the printing process.
I also used CURA to define some features to the design to make the 3d printing process more precise too
( I used a 3D printing machine ) with ( silver-colored PLA ).

firstly,
(sketching phase on fusion 360 )
after a lot of tries to achieve what I want to design finally I stabilize on that design, which I started by sketching a ( Φ40 ) circle on ( x/y ) plane to make a pen holder base then I extruded by a ( 15mm ) distance then I started to sketch on the bottom of that cylinder, I sketched a ( 21° ) polygon with ( 10 ) sides then I fillet them by (R:5mm) then I extruded by a ( 5mm) to be joined to the circle , then I started to sketch on the ( right side plane ) a ( 34.795mm) length line then a ( 14.328mm)width line then I started to use spline to make that curves on the shape and after I finished I applied a revolve feature to that sketch after that I started to make an offset plane on the top of that shape then I drew a ( 15mm) circle on that plane then I extrude it by the cut operation with length (-49mm) , then after I finished my design I started to make fillet to the edges with (5mm,0.5mm) and a chamfer to the bottom with(1mm) , then I started to sketch an eyes to the design on the ( right side plane ) with the curve tool then I made a(1mm) fillet to the edges then I extruded them with (2mm) distance , then I moved them to the design and extruded them with ( -6mm) distance by join operation then I made a ( 1mm) fillet to the top of the shape then I gave it a ( black and blue or green and black ) appearence and ( plastic ) material.
secondly,
( defining phase on ultimaker cura )
I started to specify the size of the pen holder which was (47.5109 * 49.8932) then I specify an infill density & pattern, material, support and if the model needs adhesion or not .
so here's the file details :
the pen holder size was on (47.5109 * 49.8932)
the infill density was ( 10% )
the infill pattern was on (grid ) mode
the printing temperature was on (210° )
the build plate temperature was on ( 70° )
the support was just touching the build plate
the model had no adhesion
the layer height was ( 0.2 )
all of the design took ( 17Gram )
all of the pen holder took ( 1H,28M )
I used silver PLA
the steps of making the pen holder on fusion
the pen holder with 2 appearances with the same material which is plastic on fusion
preparing the pen holder features for printing on cura
after I defined all the features & dimensions that I want the design to be printed by it, I started to preheat the 3D printer to reach them ( 210° ) temperature and the ( 70° ) build plate temperature then I imported the file to the machine SD card by the help of the lead instructor Amany then the machine started to build the pen holder.
and after the machine stopped I turned it off and started to take off the supports >_<
note: I gave a name to that pen holder and called it shalaby

pen holder with supports
it was one of the lead instructors Amany who helped me a lot to print the pen holder and advised me to not put an adhesion and to make the building temperature on (210° )while I set the features of the model on CURA
and Amany and one of my colleagues Salma gave me good feedback on it after it was 3D printed.
I faced a lot of problems while I was making the pen holder which I changed the design a lot because it was hard to achieve the features that we had to use and after I made a pen holder and imported the file to cura but it disappears on the Cura software so I had to back to one of the designs that I made before it and trying to make it less complicated to take the least time and did not need a lot of supports and that was the design that I printed.
that the pen holder that I modify on it
that Are the steps that I reached on that design but it disappear on cura so I changed it
another one that it did not work because it revolve on all the shape and I tried to fix it but it did not work
the skills that I have acquired this week were to make sure with every step before that I made on fusion that it will work with the other steps and appears on cura and it is ok to make a lot of tries and fail to reach the final one and also it's ok to simplify from projects to suit the situation and requirements.
the coolest thing was to 3D sketch on fusion with the dimensions because my background was always sketching and designing just on 2D Softwares so sketching 3D on fusion was exciting to me and make an alive shape from that sketch using a3D printer machine.
firstly,
this week we asked to design a pen holder so I designed a pen holder like a home which contains 5 parts assembled together and that was it: ----
secondly,
the instructor asked us to make a part from stress release ball in groups and my teammate was Ahmed Waleed we started to make the ball first then attach it to the cube which at the top of it the task took from us 40 minutes or less may be.
thirdly,
I made those vases by myself as an exercise and I made that stress release ball all by myself after I watched the tutorial of it.
fourthly,
the instructors asked us to make the tallest tower in teams using just 12 A4 papers and my teammates were Merit & Mohamed Ghazaly so after a lot of discussion of how to make it Merit suggested to make cones and put them inside each other and while we reaching the top we were making tight cones to stick to the ones below them. so we finished and we were the winners because we made the longest tower.>_<
