Vase Model using Loft video
This assignment idea is to design and fabricate pen holder using at least two 3d design features.
I've been inspired by this design, it's really awesome feature to loft and twist
beside that, it meet the assignment requirements as using more than 2 new features, as revolve and loft.
In this week's assignment, we have used fusion360 to design the pen holder, after designing the part it was exported as stl. file, then used Ultimaker Cura to get the gcode file, finally 3D printer was used to fabricate the part using PLA filament.

Here are the design steps using fusion and cura as numbered screenshots, the history bar should be shown in the uploaded file below.
step 1: making reference plans and sketching tilted rectangles with 60 deg. for each stage.
step 2: I've used loft feature passing through the four rectangles.
step 3: duplicating the lofted shape three times up.
steps 4 & 5: sketch has been made over the upper surface of the shape and used extrude cut feature.
step 6: sketch has been created in the base side and revolve feature is used by 360 degree to make the base.
steps 7 & 8: showing the progress of connecting the base with the upper body using lofting feature.
step 9: filets are used for the upper and lower edges.
step 10: finally appearance had been added for the whole body as green plastic

After importing the file as stl using cura, I had to scale down the part due to the time constrain.
the part has been scaled down to 40%, after slicing the estimated time was 1h24min and 9 grams in weight.
after generation the gcode file from cura, it has been loaded to the 3d printer memory card, next step was to power on the printer, insert the memory card, selecting the file, and start printing the part.
due to time constrains, during fabrication speed is updated from 100% to 200%, it went good without no problems, the only comment was that the twisting angles with the Hight have to be more proportion to have good printing quality.
here are images showing the product after printing caring pen and pencil ^_^
This week I had some problems in using some of 3d features at fusion as it is the first time to use these features.
finally it went in good way, it was great to use these new features.
also I had first design iteration, after it had been done, after slicing the stl file, it gave me like 9hours >.<
and I couldn't down the scale, due to keep the diameter of the opened slots for the pens.
so, I've decided to go with another design with another idea.
for me that was the first time to deal directly with the printer, so I have used some help from the lab specialist.
also, due to these falling particles of the lower lines of the going up curves;
the lab specialist told me that these things are happened due to the going up angle, it has to be more proportional, like 45 degree angle or higher, it's gonna be OK.
So, in the coming designs, this is very important consideration to make sure of.
