Mini Desk Fan
The idea of this week's assignment was a Mini Desk Fan.
In this assignment, I had to make a device related to home usage with two output actions so I decided to make this project which includes the following action:
Rounding the fan blades when I open the switch.
The red led will be emitted during the fan running.
I have used the TINKER CAD platform for simulating the electronic circuit.
Aristotle's triangle "You can use a ruler and protractor"
Compass.
Pencil.
Cutter blade.
Scissors.
Screwdriver.
Glue gun.
9V Adaptor.
Hobby Gearmotor.
Bread Board.
Light Emitting Diode (LED)
Two 220 Ohm resistors.
ON/OFF Switch.
Jumper wires.
Crocodiles.
Adaptor Socket.
Cardboard.
Hot Glue.
the circuit diagram
Firstly, I started to draw the shown diagram as a step to help myself to imagine the structure of the circuit.
Then, I Used the TINKERCAD platform to simulate the circuit and calculate the values of current and resistors that I will need.
Note:
I used the 9V Adaptor as a power source because the 5V was not the best choice to run the engine properly also I had to use 2 of 220 Ohm resistors because the 330 Ohm wouldn't enough with the 9V adaptor So we had to increase the value of the resistor to prevent the LED burning out.
I also connected the components of the circuit in parallel, because if they are connected in series, the voltage will be divided by the number of components, each according to its resistance, and therefore not all components will work as required.
TINKERCAD Simulation
I used the electronic components I mentioned above to build the circuit of the project.
Circuit Building
After building all components of circuit, I plugged the adaptor into the electricity source to make sure that it is working properly.
The next step was to cut the cardboard according to the following dimensions:
Electronics enclusure: 20*10*5 cm.
Fan rotation diameter: 15cm.
The neck of the fan: 20cm.
After that, I Assembled the structure of the fan using the glue gun.
Cardboard cutting
In this step, I have used adhesive tape to fix the breadboard into the bottom of the enclosure.
The second step was to fix the motor above the connecting neck.
And the final step was to fix the switch and the LED on the top of enclosure using crocodiles and jumper wires to connect them with the breadboard as shown.
It was the most exciting moment after a lot of effort to fix the electronic components without any separation of connection between it.
Final project
Actually, while the EO Week session exercise, We exchange the knowledge and skills that we learned during the week. So, It's my favorite session. I eagerly wait for this session every week.
When I was connecting the switch and LED with the breadboard, the connection wires were separated many times until I used the adhesive tape to prevent it from separating as shown.
With no doubt, the skills and knowledge that I learned this week will help me to design and build the electronic circuit of the final project.
In fact, this week was the most exciting week that I have spent during the diploma until now. I hope that the following weeks will be more exciting than this week. I really have learned a lot of things that I will mention in the next points:
Understanding the concept of the electronic circuit and its components.
Learning how to power every single component
Learning how to power multible components on the same circuit.
Understanding the concept of parallel and series connection.
Learning how to use the Avometer.
