1- Tell us about the idea of your project. Why do you care about this? What were you inspired by? Include images and videos of similar projects

Because we don’t have planet B and we are responsible for saving our earth from climate change.

  • To fight air pollution which is the main reason for climate change.

  • To spread awareness about air pollution because if we are aware well with it, we will prevent it ASAP.

  • To fight the secret killer carbon monoxide gas.










But what is the SECRET KILLER!

Each cell inside us needs oxygen every single second, the blood bond with oxygen quickly and transfer it all over our body cells, but if you respire carbon monoxide it will bond with all oxygen instead of blood so oxygen won’t reach your cells and it may cause death.








the Name and the Design idealation:

The benefits of growing new plants as it absorbs carbon dioxide which reduces climate change so the name and design inspired by plants in two:

  1. hexagonal shape of plant cell under microscope.

  2. CHLOROPHYLL inspired by the green pigment inside plant cell.


Project Construction

2- Explain the CAD process of your project. How did you use the software to design your project? (List the softwares/tools/materials...etc that you used)

programs used for the designing process : AutoCAD , fusion 360

1. sketching: the design and drawing the

hexagonal shape, at first, I drew rectangle then by line I drew one triangle, then mirrored it.

2. Extruding: then Iextruding it 40 mm

3. split body: spilt it into 2 body each of them

20 mm

4. shell: shelled it with 3 mm thickness.

5. to make the two bodies connected together I choose threaded nail so in thebottom side I sketched four 3mm-circles, then I extruded cut it

6.mounting:

      • here my superhero was grabwebsite i brought Arduino, lcd, 50 mm fan, Gas sensor, LED and on/off switch.

      • the I coordinated all of these inmy box

      • then I use project to sketching the rectangles of Arduino jacks and switch, circle for the fan and LEDs

7. to draw my project logo, I inserted

photo then i use line, conic curve to draw it then I extruded cut it

one mm.

8. to write the name of my project I use text then write it then extruded I cut it one mm.



3- Explain the fabrication process of your project. How did you use the machine to fabricate your project? (List the softwares/tools/materials...etc that you used)

2 hours and 15 mins with 34 grams

the programs that i used to simulate the deign and make sure that everything is all right Mltimaker cura

  • first the deign was 9 hours and 130 grams but i changed some properties to reduce it to 5 hours :

  • layer height 0.3

  • top and bottom layer 2

  • infill density 15

  • printing temperature 215

  • print speed 65.0

  • then i saved it with gcode

  • put it into cd card

  • open PURSA

  • preheat it

  • choose my file named by doaa_2hours_35mins









2 hours and 35 mins with 77 grams

only in the bottom side I changed the orientation and i put support in the hole of Arduino



















Project Electronics & Power Management

4- Describe your electronic circuit. What are the input and action components? What is the function of each? How do the components integrate together to form your smart system? (List the softwares/tools/components...etc that you used)

buzzer and Two LEDs to alert people from air pollution.

Fan to absorb air pollution

relay to power Fan


5- What is your power source? How did you select the suitable power source for your project? (List the softwares/tools/components...etc that you used)

Adaptor 5v

Fan and buzzer only needs 5v

Project Programming

6- Describe the code of your project. How did you program each function of the project?

IF THE analog value OF SENSOR BELOW THRESHOLD

  • turn on green led

  • turn off red led

if the value above threshold so there is pollution:

  • turn on buzzer

  • turn on red led


to define each compoment and its pin on ARDUINO



TO CHANGE TONE OF BUZZER I USED TONE FUNCTION




Project Integration & Testing

7- Demonstrate with text and visuals how did you integrate the project’s modules together? What are the testing results? (Include a Demo video separately, showing a proof of functionality)

actually it was very hard putting all of this jumpers in just 40 mm box so i took 5 hours just trying to integrate it, ending up with this video that helped me a lot to reduce jumpers.

8- Did you ask for feedback? What are the ideas that others have contributed or suggested? What was someone else’s idea that you built upon? How did you help your peers? How did your peers help you?

it is not just about feedback they were heroes without community of learning i couldn't do it.

  • Noha : the fab lab specialist helped me in joining the box and learned me the press and fit method and explained its dimensions clearly.

  • also she helped me in simulation the design in multicura to reduce time and increase the speed of printing.

  • mohand suggested to close the box with nails

  • Amany kept checking the design in fusion more than time.

  • i was asking about 2 mm nails and Ahmed ibrahim suggested to make the circles of nails 3 mm even if the thickness is 3mm and it really worked good.


Overcoming Challenges

9- When you got stuck, what/who did you turn to? At what point did you have to pause to research or learn more before moving on? What are some mistakes, pitfalls, or challenges that others can avoid if they were doing this project?

1- the problem was

there is an engraving in this 3d printing machine so the first layer and that made a disturbance in the design first layer.

I solved it by stop printing and reprint in another machine.






2- the problem was to close the box first i used press and fit method with 1.6 width extrude joint 3 mm up and 1.4 mm down and I reverse this dimension in the top side, but after all of this I wondered what if i want to unclose the device in wiring process.

I solved it by closing it with nails better so i sketching 4 circles in the top side and extrude cut it.


Future Work

10- If you had more time, what is one thing you would change/ Do next in your project?

I will send the alerting msg from Arduino to mobile app
