American Cultures I is an in-depth study of the people, events and institutions that helped shape our nation from 1850-1940. We will study the American Civil War, Reconstruction, Expansion, Industrialization, Immigration, World War I and the Great Depression. Additionally, this course will analyze current events as they affect our distinct American culture.
Students will use many different methods to experience and gain an understanding of the themes and concepts presented in the course. Students will also be expected to read primary and secondary resource information, complete historical research and demonstrate critical thinking skills through a variety of outlets.
