American Cultures I is an in-depth study of the people, events and institutions that helped shape our nation from 1850—1940. We will study the American Civil War, Reconstruction, Expansion, Industrialization, Immigration and the Great Depression. The course will also analyze current events as they effect our distinct American culture.

Grades will be based on the following:
- Tests for each chapter/unit
- Quizzes as needed (announces and unannounced)
- Homework
- In class assignments
- Other projects and assignments as announced.
Students are responsible to complete all assigned work on time. Homework will not be accepted late. All other work will receive a deduction of 10% for each day it is turned in late.
Students are responsible for making up missed assignments and tests. See the teacher to schedule making up of assignments.
Periodically there may be opportunity for a student to gain extra credit. However, no extra credit points will be given if the student is missing or has incomplete assignments.
