Hello! My name is Cyndee Hill-Boddie, and I am a school counselor at Salisbury Elementary School. I began working for STSD in 2009, and have worked in both the former Harry S Truman and Western Salisbury Elementary Schools. I am very excited to begin serving both populations of students under one roof, the newly reunited Salisbury Elementary School, for the 2020-2021 school year!
As a school counselor, I have many different responsibilities within the building. Some of the services I am available to provide to all of the students in the school include:
teaching monthly classroom guidance lessons on a variety of topics, with a focus on Social/Emotional Learning, Career Awareness, and Academics
providing small group counseling to children to strengthen skills in various areas
counseling individual students as crises or problems arise
Additionally, I collaborate with teachers and administrators to assist them in meeting individual student needs, consult with parents/guardians to address concerns they have about their children, and make referrals to community agencies when outside assistance could be beneficial. I am a member of the Student Success Team (SST), the Student Assistance Program (SAP), the Schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support team (SWPBS), Concussion Management Team (CMT), and I work with the staff and student Lighthouse Teams for our Leader in Me initiatives. I also coordinate our Blessings in a Backpack Program, and serve as our School Assessment Coordinator during PSSA testing. Finally, I develop and maintain 504 Accommodation Plans and may provided counseling as required through a student's IEP.
School counseling services will continue to be provided to all students through our 2020-2021 remote learning environment.
Monthly classroom guidance lessons will be scheduled during synchronous learning times following the specials rotation (on a day when your student has "technology/computers").
Optional independent activities for social/emotional development will be linked on this website. Check back often!
Group and/or individual supportive counseling services will be scheduled via Zoom upon request of student, teacher or parent/guardian.
School counselors are required to hold a master's degree and education specialist certificate. My credentials include a BA in psychology from DeSales University, and a MA in counseling from Kutztown University. My elementary school counselor/education specialist certification is also from Kutztown University. Prior to my work as a school counselor, I served for 15 years as a caseworker and supervisor in a foster care/adoption agency, and also provided mental health counseling to children, adults and families in a variety of community, home, and residential settings.
School counseling services are available to all students and their parents/guardians. School counseling is meant to be short-term and goal directed and is not the same as mental health counseling or therapy. You may contact me by telephone at 610-791-2800, ext 4549 or via email at chill@salisburysd.org if you would like to learn more.
I look forward to working with you!
