In this module, we were thrown into the life of a writer and got to learn and first-hand experience what makes a good story and how to write it. This was the introduction to our storytelling section and was taught by Brad Stephenson who did a lesson and fun activity to get the point across. After that, we went to Livingstone College's recording studio to learn storytelling over a microphone having the opportunity to be on the mic and exploring the idea of broadcasting. After consulting both and implementing the advice I created a story of my own and recorded it for the world.
As a writer, it was nice to get immersed in details and exaggerated stories that sound crazy but are fun to hear and read. It was interesting being on the air and in a recording studio. I am not involved in podcasting or having to be on air for anything like this so the new experience was refreshing. Reflecting on the experience I see improvement in my communication skills, imagery, and overall awareness while writing.
Brad Stephenson came to our class to teach us the importance of storytelling and the many concepts that go with that task. We went through the fundamental concepts of writing ranging from using imagery and rhetorical devices to being enchanting and your main character's personality.
After practicing my storytelling abilities and techniques I've learned and after a little more preparation, I was ready to write my podcasts. I worked for days on my stories and after almost three weeks of straight work and tedious transition words, I had finished. It was a personal narrative about an experience in middle school giving me a great chance to work on my imagery and imagination and incorporate what I learned.

Being a confident communicator connects to this module because my past dislike of public speaking whether behind a screen or not has always been very prevalent and difficult for me to overcome. This isn't the main connection as having the skill to collaborate with your peers to hear your story and tell you what could be better about how you're writing or describing something.
