Classcraft
Level 2
Level 2
You’ve imported your students’ names and created your classes. This quest provides a video to show students what Classcraft is, as well as teach them how to create their avatar within the game! Are you ready to introduce Classcraft to your students?
How to Introduce Classcraft to Students
Watch this short video which walks you through how to introduce Classcraft to your students. This shows you the teacher side to prep for the day you choose to introduce it. Remember that it’s a good idea to have students help you create the Behaviors, Powers, and Sentences. For that reason, I would hold off on the rules summary and Hero Pact until the class has discussed these vital pieces of the puzzle.
Video for Student Introduction
Show this video to students on the day you choose to introduce Classcraft! This 2-minute video is the best way to share what Classcraft is all about!
TIP: Students have three classes of characters within the game. They must decide if they’d like to Mages, Warriors, or Healers. Warriors act as the game protectors, Healers are well… healers, and Mages act as suppliers. It’s a good idea to have students distribute these character classes across themselves evenly. (If a team is made up of all Warriors, they will have no way to heal themselves, etc).
If there are any questions from students, there is an exceptional support system created by Classcraft available at: https://help.classcraft.com/hc/en-us/categories/202646447-Student-Support
Students Creating Avatars
Students will log on to Classcraft by accessing the game at http://game.classcraft.com/signup/student. By creating their players in the game, naming their team, creating a background and choosing their team crest, they are personalizing their experience and ready to embark on this adventure in gamification!
Behaviors, Powers, Sentences
Again, it is a good idea to get student input on these parts of your class settings. Allow students time to digest and/or create these and make any changes in your class settings prior to beginning the game. Changing the rules in the middle of the game without a team consensus is likely to upset students & devalidate the entire experience for them.
Submission Details:
Respond to the following two prompts: A) Discuss your behaviors, powers, and sentences along with XP assigned for each. This is a great place to get ideas for these settings prior to the conversation with students as well! B) Reflect on the reaction of students when Classcraft was introduced and students were creating their avatars in teams.
