Magic: The Gathering is the first-ever trading card game where players put together a deck of playable cards in various formats. Players can compete against each other, team up against an archenemy, or play a version of solitaire.
For our league, we play competitive one vs. one matches. Imagine taking the role of a wizard with a book of spells -- you're tossed into the arena where you must fend against other wizards with their own spellbooks. Victory comes by casting spells, summoning creatures, shooting lightning bolts, and outsmarting your opponent with crafty tricks.
Joining the league is free, and there are prizes to be won! Come join our Magic League!
League Guidelines and Rules
Check out our comprehensive list of rules and guidelines for our Magic League. Please be aware these rules may change and that we have multiple seasons within a year where things change dramatically.
Magic as an educational tool is of tremendous benefit for students. Students will learn how to sequence, comprehend rules and reading, do math, and think critically. Linear problem solving is also tested.
Magic is a fun way to get students to think in multiple dimensions. They will have to plan strategies while deck building and playing.
Ultimately, the goal is to make learning fun and have fun while learning. Allowing students to earn while they learn gives them an incentive to keep building on their skills.
Thanks to MagiKids for sending over a crate to get our club fully operational.
We are proud to be affiliated with MagiKids, an organization focused on supporting the intellectual health of young adults with Magic: The Gathering. Games can create communities and long-lasting friendships, and MagiKids has a ton of resources for educators looking to build Magic: The Gathering into their curriculum or for extracurricular activities.
MagiKids sent us a crate filled with booster packs, deck boxes, sleeves, dice, a playmat, and HUNDREDS of cards. It's enough to start a club, and we encourage you to apply. It's an amazing program, and it's FREE!
