In the before law, basic knowledges were the concepts, contents and the necessary information that help pupils to carry out their exercises, activities, tasks or projects.
The area of CONOCIMIENTO DEL MEDIO (Social & Natural Science) is configured by different disciplines and is related to other areas of the curriculum.
The basic knowledge, in this area, are structured in 3 blocks, which must be applied in different real contexts to achieve the achievement of the specific competences of the area:
Scientific Culture: Initiation into scientific activity, life on our planet, matter, forces and energy.
Technology and Digitalization: Application of the strategies of the development of design projects for the creation of products in a cooperative way, and basic management of a variety of digital tools and resources.
Societies and territories: Challenges and situations of the world in which we live in a civic, democratic, supportive, sustainable and committed way; relationships of causality, simultaneity and succession in the evolution of societies over time; and interactions between human activities and the natural and social environment.
Topics are introduced at a manageable pace, so pupils can engage with, enjoy and fully assimilate new concepts. Besides, the specific objectives have been developed around the key competences.
Pupils books are easy to work with a good structure in the different units.
Texts are easy to understand and the images and photos have big quality.
Practically, the material published in the books of Social Sciences and Natural Sciences is correct and could be used with the new regulation. It would only be necessary to unify in a single subject and make a selection of specific knowledge at different levels.
