Subject: IMPORTANT ROOM RESERVATION INFORMATION FOR FALL 2025
Dear Students,
Although it seems like the spring semester just began, it is already time to start thinking about where you'll be living this fall! The Office of Residence Life is writing to provide you with some important updates regarding housing availability for the 2025-2026 academic year.
In the upcoming room selection process for the 2025-2026 academic year, students opting to live on the Albany campus will be able to select from the following building:
University Heights College Suites (4 bedroom/2 bathroom suites)
Students opting to live on the Troy campus will be able to select from the following buildings:
Esteves (French) House (Female-only building)
German House (Co-ed brownstone)
McMurray/Spicer/Gale House (Co-ed brownstone)
Slocum Hall (Corridor style housing, male only second floor, female only third floor)
Spanish House (Honors Housing, co-ed brownstone)
Wool House (Co-ed brownstone, availability limited to rising seniors)
In considering building and room availability, the following items will be important to keep in mind as you begin to think about where you may want to live:
Single rooms in Troy will be limited, and likely will only be available to students who have documentation through the Office of Accessibility Services for a medical single.
Students working with the Office of Accessibility Services must have completed documentation submitted to their office by April 1.
Rooms must be filled to capacity. You will be able to select a room in the housing selection process if you are in a resident group that matches the capacity of the room.
For example, to select a triple room, you will need a group of 3 students. To select a double room, you will need a group of 2 students.
Suites in Albany must be filled to capacity. Students opting to live in University Heights College Suites should plan to select their suites in groups of 4.
Lottery numbers will be assigned based on the number of completed credits, and students will be eligible to select a room if they have completed the following:
Submitted a FAFSA form to the Office of Financial Aid;
Registered full-time (at least 12 credits) for the Fall 2025 semester;
Have NO holds on your student account; and
Have updated your emergency contact information through Self-Service.
If you wish to change your residency status, you may apply to become a commuter provided that you meet the conditions stated in the RSC Residency Policy.
See the full breakdown of tuition, fees, and housing rates here. Keep an eye on your email for more detailed information regarding the room selection process coming soon!

Subject: ResLife Portal Open to Create Resident Groups & Select Meal Plans
Dear Students,
You should have received your lottery number on Friday via email. As of today, April 7, 2025, the ResLife Portal is open and available for you to begin selecting your meal plan and creating your resident groups in preparation to select your room when the housing lottery opens on April 14, 2025.
To select your meal plan and create a resident group, follow the directions below:
Sign on to the system under “Residents & Students” using your Sage email and password through Google.
Click on “Get Started” button within the section labeled “Room Assignment"
Creating a resident group will alter your lottery number as you invite students to your group, changing based on the lowest lottery number in the group. Please note that having a resident group allows all group members to select their room at the indicated lottery number. All group members must select their own room.
PLEASE NOTE: Rooms must be filled to capacity. You will be able to select a room in the housing selection process if you are in a resident group that matches the capacity of the room. To select a double room, you will need a group of 2 students; to select a triple room, you will need a group of 3 students. To select a UHCS suite, you will need a group of 4 students.
New this year is a feature in the ResLife Portal that will help you find a roommate if you are still searching for one! Once you have logged in, use the "Preference Attributes" and "Roommate Matching" buttons to find compatible roommates!
If you have completed all of the items necessary to reserve a room, you will receive an email from the system when your lottery number is activated prompting you to sign on to the system using your Sage email and password through Google. As mentioned, as of today, April 7, you have access to the portal to select your meal plan or create resident groups, but will be unable to select a room until the lottery queue begins on April 14.
More information on the dates of housing lottery, creating a roommate group, and housing options available on each campus can be found here: Room Reservation Guide
If you have any questions, please reach out to a member of the Residence Life staff. Please note that we are experiencing a large volume of calls and emails at this time, so we appreciate your patience with our response time!

Subject: Final Day of Housing Lottery
Dear Students,
We’ve made it to the final day of the housing lottery! We will resume with lottery number 293 this morning and anticipate completing all remaining lottery numbers by late this afternoon.
At this time, all single rooms on the Troy campus have been reserved. If you're hoping to live in Troy, you'll need to select a double or triple with a group of two or three residents. There are still plenty of triple rooms available - and many of them are quite spacious! I definitely recommend checking them out.
Students who would like to live in Albany at University Heights College Suites (UHCS) will need a group of four students in order to select a suite there.
If you’ve already selected your room, please don’t forget to choose your meal plan and finalize your housing selection before the end of the day. Your assignment isn’t complete until this step is done. Here's a link to the ResLife Portal in case you need it: https://sage.reslifecloud.com/
If your lottery number has already been activated but you haven’t selected a room yet, and you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out - we’re here to help! We’ll also be following up with anyone who hasn't completed their selection later this week.
Thanks for your patience throughout this process!
Best,
Grace
