MAJOR PROJECT - LIZ MCLENNAN & ALLY TRUTWEIN
ABOUT US
LIZ MCLENNAN
PROJECT MANAGER
My name is Liz and I am a graphic design student here at SAE. Like Ally, this is my final trimester of study at SAE before I transfer to Curtin to persue my Masters. With the help of the amazingly talented Creative Director Ally, the informative Astro, and the film legend Cade, we have created Junkture for our Major project.
We came up with the idea for Junkture because we were sick of hearing about how boring Perth is. There are tons of hidden gems, if you know where to look.
Design occupies 150% of my mind at all times, so I am excited to continue my studies in the area. I really love 3D art and UX/UI design and would love to go into the field of digital design in the future.

Hi! My name is Ally Trutwein, and I am a Graphic Design student at SAE Perth. I currently in my last trimester of study, and I have completed a zine called Junkture, as my major project with my friend and fellow student Liz.
Design is something that is so subjective, and that is why I love it. The possibilities of design are endless, and it is so much fun to create something on your own terms.
I love anything retro, whether that is a cool, chunky font, bold or pastel colour patterns or etched away textures. My favourite design inspirations are Andrey Azizov, Milton Glaser and Paula Scher.

A3 Digital Layout
We created this placeholder zine to get the overall aesthetic right before we went into production. I also wanted to print this out so I could see if the backgrounds and colour combinations worked well/worked in general.
Based on this, we will be keeping most text boxes the same and follow a very similar layout in terms of placement of images and information. The only thing we will change is the actual content, images and some image placement based on how much text we have to fit in.
ZINE PRODUCTION
ZINE 1: Process by Ally
I started off wanting to design the actual poster first, then base the zine very closely with the art direction of the poster.
I also wanted to try different effects and techniques on the poster, but as much as I wanted these things, my laptop did not like keeping up, so the potential 3D text effects I wanted to do could not be executed because my laptop kept glitching and shutting off. This is the downside of working on a laptop, and I could have used the campus iMac's but arranging a time to get to campus proved to be quite difficult.

QR CODES
The final stages of this project include printing out tiny QR codes that contain a link to the Instagram (which contains all our content and the link to our Linktree) and sticking them around Perth in high-traffic places and near venues where our target demographic go to.
