Announcements and Updates

Hello Spartans!

Below you will find important information regarding announcements from SACS and Homestead. This will also include updates related to the construction project. Students can access daily announcements with the announcements page here.

New Entrance Construction Updates

Homestead is pleased to give students a glimpse of our new building by opening up the new Door 1 entrance just outside the new bus lot. The new entrance gives a modern, college-campus feel with high ceilings, updated fixtures, and a new weight room. This entrance provides quicker access to the 10-12 side of the building and gives our Weight & Strength students a state-of-the-art workout space to train during the day. While the construction project comes with its challenges, it is exciting to see the pieces of our new campus coming together!

Attendance Office Updates

The attendance office has moved from Door 26 to Door 1. Students who have late arrivals and early dismissals are now expected to enter and depart from the new Door 1 entrance. Parents who are dropping their child off late or picking them up early are expected to use the circle drive near Door 1. Please see the map on the right for directions to the circle drive.

*If you need to notify the attendance office of any early arrivals, late dismissals, or absences, please call the 24-hour attendance line at 431-2205*

Parking & Drop off/Pickup Reminders

As Homestead construction continues, things such as student drop-off and pick-up change. One of the most recent changes for the 2022-23 school year is the availability of a Door 1 drop-off and pick-up turnaround.

In the mornings, we have found that the Spartan Turnaround (see map above) works quite well, and parents get through in less than 5 minutes (not including time on Homestead Road).

In the afternoons, parents should go through this same Turnaround for student pick-up. Unfortunately, some of our neighboring businesses are seeing an uptick in afternoon parking (during after school pick-up). We kindly ask that you do not park in the lots of our neighboring businesses. Whether it be all day or for just 30 minutes to pick up your student from school, there should be no parking at the fire station, Saint Elizabeth Church, or Summit.

Not only does this after-school parking impede our neighbors from utilizing their own lots for their patrons, it causes some unsafe conditions when students cross the streets at non-crosswalk locations.

So, please, use the Homestead Turnaround (entering off of Homestead Road) to drop off and pick up your student. Thank you.

Parent Teacher Conferences

There will be no school on Friday, October 21st due to Parent Teacher Conferences. Conferences will begin on the evening of Thursday, October 20th, and then continue into the first half of the day on the 21st. This is NOT a Flex Day, so students will NOT be expected to complete online assignments via Canvas. Homestead is returning to its traditional Parent Teacher Conference format, so parents will come into the building during conference hours to meet with their child's teacher individually. Parents are expected to sign up for a time slot if they wish to meet with their child's teachers. Sign-ups close October 17th. For instructions regarding sign-ups for conferences, click here.

Homestead Clubs & Extracurriculars

Clubs at Homestead aim to get students involved and to provide opportunities for every student to pursue their passions. Homestead offers approximately 100 clubs that cater to various ideas and interests, fueling the diversity of the community and preparing students for the next steps in their journey both on and off campus.

Red Cross Blood Drive

Homestead’s Student Government is very excited to be collaborating with the Red Cross to bring a blood drive to our community in October. The blood drive will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in the main gym at HHS. The drive is open to everyone in our community, and we are hoping to fill every open spot to help the Red Cross in their efforts. We have 45 open appointment slots to fill. By donating 45 minutes of time and one pint of blood, you are impacting the lives of up to THREE patients in need. All healthy and eligible donors are encouraged to donate blood. This blood drive will provide much needed units of blood for patients in need. ALL PRESENTING DONORS WILL RECEIVE AN AMERICAN RED CROSS LONG SLEEVE T-SHIRT! Pre-scheduled appointments are highly recommended.

You may schedule in any open slot and you can do so at the attached link: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=homestead
