Graduation Pathways

Perhaps in the last week, students have noticed that a new course has appeared on their PowerSchool homepage (Project Based Learning).  This new course represents the students' work with the Graduation Pathways Canvas course.

In their extended 5th period class (longer period due to lunch), students have time to work on some activities in the Graduation Pathways Canvas course related to college and career aspirations and readiness.

Because completion of these activities is a graduation requirement put forth by the state, listing it in PowerSchool will allow it to show up on their transcripts. At the end of the semester, students will then have a “Pass” in PowerSchool to represent they have completed the necessary graduation requirement for a high school diploma. Below is an image of the course listed in PowerSchool.

Indiana Graduation Pathway Requirements

Below is a description of the Box 1, 2, and 3 Pathways required of all Hoosier students.  Our work in Canvas satisfies the Box 2 (Project-based Learning) Pathway for all students.

All high school students will graduate using the Graduation Pathways process outlined by the DOE for the State of Indiana.  The Graduation Pathway was created to ensure that every Hoosier student will graduate from high school with 1) a broad awareness of and engagement with individual career interests and associated career options, 2) a strong foundation of academic and technical skills, and, 3) a demonstration of employability skills that lead directly to meaningful opportunities for postsecondary education, training, and gainful employment.

Final Exam Attendance Policy Reminder

Second Semester Exams will be given on May 26, 30 and 31. Students are expected to be in attendance on these days to take their final exams. Students may NOT be parent excused (PX) on final exam days.  Any student who is absent during final exams will be considered unexcused and will receive a zero on their final assessment. (exams/projects/papers/etc.)

A student who is required to give a presentation prior to a final exam day for a final grade, must be in attendance for the scheduled final exam day for that class in order to receive credit. This rule is necessary so that students who are scheduled to give their presentations last have the same experience presenting to an audience and receiving their feedback as the first students to present experienced.

Clinic Closet Donations

The clinic is running low on pants in the closet in the clinic. We have a sufficient number of tops for students, but we are running low on pants. Typically, these are used for any number of reasons for students who may need a change of clothes during the school day. If you have any extra pants, whether they don't fit anymore or you are just doing some spring cleaning, please consider donating them to the school's clinic.  They can be new or gently used items that are dress code appropriate (jeans, sweats, etc.).  Not only would we accept pants, but shoes would also be helpful in building our closet supply for students. Any close-toed shoes that you may have grown out of would also be much appreciated for the clinic closet. If you have any donations, please drop them off at the clinic anytime during school hours!
